On February 2nd 2007, Alter opened for business at 109 Franklin Street.
Here are a few photos taken the day of our opening, moments before the first customer walked in (he still shops at the store, we refer to him as "#1"). We opened with about 90 items in the store, mostly vintage clothing we had re-worked, our original Greenpoint t-shirts and about a fifteen pairs of Cheap Monday jeans.
A few weeks later, Refinery29.com features the shop, putting Alter on the retail radar.
"Greenpoint, too, seems to be under the spell of urban changeover. And the newly opened shop Alter is likely just the beginning of more fashion-friendly additions to come."

Three years later we have grown into a mini retail machine, selling brands and designers from all over the US, Canada and Europe.
Huge thanks to our customers, friends and press who have helped spread the Alter word and since day one!
